The Story of Our Home

Every house has a story. Every family has a story of how they got where they are.

My story is kind of different.

We bought our first home in Atlanta. It was a super cute townhouse and I loved it!

We were so excited when we bought this house. My husband and I even got engaged in it!

After about a year living there, things started to change. I became very unhappy. The commute was killing me (I worked over an hour each way). I never saw my friends or family and I was newly married. We had a beautiful house and could never have anyone over because the parking in our neighborhood was so strict. After much debate, we finally decided to put our house on the market. Within a year of buying in, our agent informed us of the drop in the market. There was no way we could sell. Lots of other people were in the same situation. (Read about it on one of my other favorite blogs here!)

So we decided to rent. The hubbs probably thought I was crazy, but he went with it. We found an amazing renter and moved out. We moved in with my family. We looked at houses on the weekends, at night, at work, whenever we could. We would find a house, love it, and then get outbid, or everything in our price range needed tons of work. I didn't mind some work, but not a major overhaul! Finally, after losing 3 houses to others, we found this house. "Our house". It was perfect. More house than we ever imagined at a great price, in an AMAZING neighborhood.  It even had a basement, which none of the other houses had. So it is true, good things come to those who wait. Here it is empty...I can't wait to show you all of the great ideas I have for it now!

The front. You can barely see it because it was so overgrown! (Before and After will be posted soon on this change!)

Family Room

Kitchen (yes...it needs A LOT of work! ) Check out that tile!!

This fireplace was the reason we fell in love with this house!

Sitting Room in Master

I'm just glad to finally be moved in and getting settled. I hope you enjoy this journey with me! More projects to come this weekend!

  4. I found your blog through Pinterest! Your photos look exactly like the house my daughter lives in...in Hamilton Mill. She has the same keeping room look, kitchen....little alcove in her master bedroom. Love what you've done...they've only been in their house about 6 months and are working to fix it up the way they want it!
