tablecloths turned curtains

I spotted these tablecloths at Goodwill for $6.60. I opened them up at the store and realized they were 10 feet long! (Who has a table that long???)

AND THERE WERE 2 OF THEM :)

My mind was spinning, but right away I knew they would be perfect for curtains for our office/guest room on the main floor.

I brought them home, laid them flat and ironed them.

Since they were already hemmed on all sides, all I had to do was hem the bottom to the correct length.

We have pretty high ceilings, so all I did was hem them to 9 feet. I used the extra I cut off to make tabs for the back.

I had the hubbs install a curtain bar.

(Sorry ladies, he's taken!)

I got new curtains for less than 30 bucks and 2 hours time!

Here's a little Before Meets After

No I just have to figure out what's going in the rest of the room!

After making these, I statred thinking...what else have you made curtains out of? I know drop cloths have been a big hit lately, but anyone else have anything interesting?

Yes - I'll watch at Home Goods, Marshalls, etc. for tablecloths on clearance - they really are great for home sewing projects/decorating!

  3. I made curtains for my master bedroom from the $10 tablecloths at Bed, Bath & Beyond (they are $10 for all sizes even the 120"!) I hung them on clip rings and they came out great. Yours turned out great, too. You never know what great stuff will turn up at Goodwill! What do you have planned for the rest of the room.

  7. I've made curtains out of shower curtains as well and just added fabric to the bottom to make it long enough. Sheets work well too. Love how yours turned out. Thanks for sharing at my Sizzle into Summer party.
