shelf for craft supplies

I found this little cutie for $1.49 at no other then....Goodwill. I'm pretty sure it was a spice rack of some sorts.

I took it home and sprayed it with my leftover Avocado spray paint from other craft room projects and my Avocado table

But it still didn't seem complete.

I decided to add some pink and green scrapbook paper to the back. I sprayed it with my 3M spray adhesive, then put modge podge over it.

I've had some baby food jars in my basement for a while and I took the lids off and sprayed with Avocado as well.
I put all kinds of craft supplies in the jars and hung the shelf on the wall

This project cost me less than $2!

It's super cute and goes well with my other pink and green storage items in my craft room.

So here is another Before Meets After!

inspiration garage organization

I don't know about you, but something about football season around the corner makes me think of manly projects. One manly project I'd love for hubbs to tackle is the garage!

We have a 3 car garage and I can barely get in my car. The hubbs is parked in the driveway for the time being. What, you may be asking yourself, is taking up all that room?

a riding lawnmower
a couch from hubby's bachelor days
tools
a huge garbage can and recycle bin
a shelf for shoes
old tarps/blankets
golf clubs and sporting equiptment
furniture (ummm yeah that one's my fault!)

Does this sound like your garage?
Do you have any solutions?

I was pinning some ideas on pinterest with the hopes that maybe hubbs is reading this post!

My Memories Scrapbook Software Giveaway

I was so excited when the lovely people from Mymemories.com asked me to host a giveaway!

I got to try their amazing software called My Memories Suite.
My Memories Suite digital scrapbooking software

I could not wait to get started. Let's be honest....a lof of us have AMAZING craft rooms, but not a lot of time to sit in it and actually scrapbook :(

That's where Mymemories.com comes in. It's the fast and easy way to display your memories in a scrapbook style.

It has tons of preloaded design templates and you can even add your own.

I chose to use a pre-made template to design a scrapbook with our memories from last Christmas (yes, don't judge, it's August!)

I'm going to have this album printed because it turned out so cute!

Next, I dug a few years back and went through our engagement pictures. We never got an album for our pictures because they were so expensive but our photographer, Lindsey Turner, took some amazing photographs. I couldn't think of a better way to display them than with a scrapbook from Mymemories.com

Here are a few pages from another pre-made album template I used.

Both of these almbums took me less than an hour to make...combined!!!

But that's not all this amazing sofdtware does. After you design your scrapbook, you can print it, have it made into an album, cards, calendars, and more! You can even make a move and send it
to your ipod!
Share your album

So thanks to the lovely peeps from Mymemories.com, they are giving away the My Memories Suite software. This is a $50 value!

To win:
1)Be a Google follower of Before Meets After and leave a comment telling me what you would do with this amazing software.

2) Like Before Meets after on facebook and come back telling me you did so.

3) Like my Memories Blog and come back and tell me you did.

4) Like Mymemories.com Facebook page and come back and leave me a comment telling me you did.

Large Mirror

I hope Everyone had a great weekend! I got a few small projects done and this mirror was one of them.

I stumbled upon this mirror when I bought this dresser a while ago. It's been sitting in my basement waiting for some inspiration.

I finally came up with an idea, but I wasn't sure it it was going to work.

I painted the mirror with one coat of Annie Sloan's Duck Egg Blue. It was nothing special but I needed that for my base coat.

After that I painted on Ralph Lauren's Glaze in midnight. I let the glaze sit for about 30seconds and then wiped it off with a wet cloth.

Glazing really brings out the detail in pieces and this mirror has a lot of detailed edges.

When I wiped off the glaze a little of the chalk paint came off too exposing white edges as well as the black glaze. I was so excited at how it turned out!

Here's a close up of the glazing and distressing.

It's for sale in the store and you won't believe the price for such a huge mirror!

One last look of the Before Meets After

I think this would amazing in a foyer, bedroom, above a couch, or even for a powder room mirror!

shim mirror

I know you've seen these shim mirrors all over blogland, but they're all so different and unique.

I wanted mine to be a little more "unique" and random.

I started by staining my shims in my favorite minwax stain, dark walnut.
(yes I was lazy frugal and only stained the front side of the shims!)
I also gathered some different sized cardboard circles from the cupcake stand I made, a picture hanger, and Gorilla Glue.

I got to work laying out a pattern of short and long shims. There's really no rhyme or reason to this, just place the way you like.

I used Gorilla glue to glue it one my cardboard circle. I then glued my beveled edge mirror on top and put some paint cans on it to dry.

I had a few options of where I wanted ot hang it. But after seeing a few people on pinterest hang theirs on shutters, I thought I should try that!

What do you think? I have another place for it, but I thought I would try it here! Here is what it looked like before, and now after!

Which one is your favorite?
