The happiest place on Earth!!

Last year we didn't go on vacation because we owed a crapload of taxes. Yeah. No. Fun.

So this year I ddecided to surprise hubbs with a trip!

Can you guess where we're going?

I'll be spending some time with this big guy

It's only the happiest place on Earth!!

Hubbs also  LOVES Harry Potter (hence my dog's Halloween costume) so we'll also be making an appearance at Harry Potter World at IOA and Universal Studios.

Needless to say, he is so excited and he was really surprised!

That being said, my head is spinning with Disney choices.

I decided we'd stay on Disney property to get the whole experience and to make traveling from park to park quick and easy.

But this is where I need your help!

Any insiders tips? Where to eat? What to do? What can we absolutely NOT miss?? How much time do 2 adults need at each park?

Help a sista out :)

  4. I actually worked at EPCOT (Soarin' airlines flight 5505:) What a blast! My daughter was a character performer at all the parks and was in parades and shows. Prior to working there, I wasn't that in to EPCOT, but soon it became my favorite park. The key to EPCOT is getting there early and getting your fast pass tickets first thing. Soarin' remains my favorite ride!! If it's just the two of you and no kids, you may want to take in the music and arts in the late afternoon and evening in the world showcase, so fun. If you go without a plan, you may miss out on a lot of cool stuff. Animal Kingdom is fun and beautiful. Be sure you get there early because it closes earlier than the rest of the parks. If you love rides, you may find Everest to be your favorite! Do get a fast pass for that one if you can. The jungle safari is really beautiful and a fun experience too. Magic Kingdom is a must if you love rides and especially for the parade and fireworks at night! Hollywood Studios is my least favorite, but I've heard they have made some good changes to it. Rockin' Roller Coaster can be a LONG wait, but it is a favorite of many people as well as the Tower of Terror, YIKES! As for fun places to stay, the Disney Boardwalk is great, you will enjoy any of the hotels there, it's just beautiful and there is food and entertainment right there within walking distance. You may want to spend a day at Downtown Disney. The shops are fun, and there is some great food there. Often they have live entertainment as well, maybe you can catch something going on at House of Blues. This is easily accessible by the shuttle buses. It's on Disney property near all the hotels.

My favorite parks, however, are Islands of Adventure and Universal! You will love the Harry Potter section! These parks close @ 7 I believe, but when you are done, you can hang out until the wee hours at City walk and visit Jimmy Buffet's or Hard Rock Cafe for food. If you choose to stay near these parks, you will fall in love with Loews Portofino Bay (if you can afford it) or Hard Rock, or any of the hotels right on the property there. You get on a little boat that taxi's you right to the parks, it is seriously romantic!

If you are in to shopping, the outlet mall closest to Universal and IOA is better than the one near Disney. Better deals for sure! The one by Disney is a pain to get in and out of. If you are able to ask for directions to Celebration and visit the little Disney planned community that is near the Disney properties. You can rent bikes and ride on boardwalks for miles. The town is adorable and so beautiful.

I hope this helps you, feel free to email me if you have any more questions. vickijava@hotmail.com

Have a GREAT time, and be safe.

  5. I've been a number of times with hubby. Summer months are crowded so the amount of time needed is very different than fall/holidays. We loved the Birnbaum's Disney Guide book because it describes each attraction/show so you can decide what's important. Also describes counter & full service restaurants, snack spots & points out food specialties. Lots of cool tips that you'd never know (or see) on your own. The book was worth every penny (coupons in the back)! For a break from the park, we loved the mini golf just outside of The Dolphin/Swan Hotels. Be sure to check hotel concierge for park maps with schedules specific to your days (early entry/extra hours, parade/fireworks shows, etc.) Disney does everything right!

  6. And another thing...my "can't miss" item is actually icecream...a Dole Whip (pineapple soft serve). In the Magic Kingdom, you'll find it at a tiny stand across from The Jungle Cruise. Hope you have SO MUCH FUN!
