This desk turned out so much better than I thought it would!
When I first got this desk, it was VERY scratched up!
The top was in equally bad condition. It looked like someone had left an iron on the top as well as drink rings.
But it had that cute little lip I just couldn't resist! I originally thought it might have been a vanity without the mirror, but it didn't have any screw holes in the back or metal fittings for a mirror.
I did fill in a few of the really deep scratches, but I wanted this desk to retain it's old feel.
After patching a few holes, I used a dry brush method to apply Annie Sloan Paint in Provence.
I wanted a lot of the dark wood to show through.
After painting, I used a combination of clear and dark wax.
The hardware was in such good shape. There are TONS of options for hardware, but I love the look of this original hardware.
Here it is in all it's glory!
I love how the top looks now!
Here's the Before Meets After
It's for sale in the store if you're interested!

ReplyDeleteLove this! You really brought it back to life! I recently bought Annie Sloan chalk paint in Provence and have been scared to use it but this has inspired me. Did you dilute it with her old white at all -- or is this straight from the can?
ReplyDeleteGreat job bringing this piece back to life. I really love the color you chose for it.
