This morning all I wanted to do was stay in bed with a cup of coffee and read a magazine. But the real world calls and I had to get up to go to work. At least its Friday!! Good thing there's such thing as coffee to go!
I really wasn't a big coffee drinker until recently. I just couldn't add one more thing to do in my morning routine.
But then hubbs got me a Keurig for Christmas and I can quickly make a cup in a minute or less.
The only problem all the coffee stuff was cluttering the counter and it was driving.me.nuts.
So I set out to find a cute tray to make into a coffee station.
The tray started out pretty ugly.
It was a $1.00 find from Goodwill. It was actually a Melissa & Doug art station that had a sliding top, but for $1.00 it would do!

It had a very yellow finish to it.
I sanded down the name, painted it Pure White from ASCP. I've never used this color before, and I was excited to have a true white to use!
I used two light coats, but then it was too solid, so I added some brown glaze with an old rag. I sealed it with clear wax, and now it's pretty enough to be front and center in my kitchen!

I love fresh flowers in the house and I couldn't resist picking up some daisies from the store to stick in a vase. This is a perfect spot for flowers. I love how they're contained and now there's even less "stuff" on the counter". Sensing a theme? I.hate.counter.clutter.

I love how to little divider in the side is perfect for the K cups.

We also picked up the reusable one so we can use our own coffee too. It's way cheaper that way!
But I do like to splurge on the little K cups every now and then. Do you have any favorites? Do you hate counter clutter like me?

love the look of your new set up for coffee.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at the new mr coffee machine that works the same way and wondering if I'd like it for a change from our usual 10 cup maker.
counter clutter is the bain of my existance and yet I cant seem to come up with a good/clutter free arrangement and still have the things I need most close at hand.
I know you'll enjoy your new space- it looks great and you did good on that tray.
Great project! Daisies are my favorite flower!
ReplyDeleteDropping in from blog talk on FB, I live in Lilburn! I'm just too freakin lazy to not use the kcups but Caribou is my fave or Dunkin Doughnuts.
ReplyDeleteI also received that model for Christmas. But mine barely fits under my counter and that drives me nuts! I've been toying with the idea of moving it to my bar area - but not sure if I'll like that look. My mom got me a drawer thing-y and that sorta helps - but it's not the cutest look. I splurged on a set of k-cups - Caramel Vanilla Ice Cream - it's a Green mountain light roast blend. The ones in the sampler were too strong for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa... Love your little coffee station tray, a great find and you made it so much prettier!! I don't like a lot of things on my counters either. I have my cups and such in a little basket tray. Have been working in my kitchen since Christmas and now need to add some greenery and flowers here and there to soften it up a bit. Love your daisies. I sometimes forget about daisies. Thanks for sharing....Oh, and I just LOVE your new recliners!! Wish I had seen them first but then I would have to live close to a Ballard outlet....and I don't ;((. blessings, Linda
