Home Goals 2013

I know...worst. blogger. ever. I promised I would share my home goals, and well, the week just got away from me. It's the whole going back to work thing that's killing me! You know it's bad when you mom makes comments about how you don't blog as much :(

Boo...I'll try to be better, I promise!

As I was looking over my home goals from 2012, I got a little frustrated with myself. I set out to do all of these big projects, and I finished 2. Yes 2.

So this year I decided to do something a little different. Instead of listing specific things I want to get done (like do a major overhaul on our master bedroom), I'm going with a word.

One word to describe the goals in my home. One word to describe the things I get accomplished, whether it's an entire room or small pieces, I want to remember this one word.
Neon Celebrate! (Forever)
CELEBRATE.

Celebrate the things that happen in my home. Make memories and celebrate in comfortable spaces.  Celebrate holidays, birthdays, important occasions. Celebrate big projects, celebrate small ones.

And if a room gets made over in the process, so be it :)

This cute little printable, and more are available from Jaihart.

Do you have a word of the year for 2013? Do you make specific goals? Have you broken your resolutions already?

  1. I totally know the feeling, Lisa -- it's depressing to see how little I actually got DONE last year. You've got the right idea -- celebrate whatEVER gets done and enjoyed this year!

  2. Um, can my word be "party"? I just finished my 2013 goals, to be blogged about monday, so I'm an even worse blogger! and I realized that parties are really the most exciting part. Not too many home things, at least not too many I'm willing to commit to!

btw- I also resolve to try to comment more, not just read/stalk you from my reader!

    1. Jessica I need to make the same resolution! I'm getting horrible about commenting on blogs. I read them in my reader too and sometimes I get too lazy to click on and actually comment. GAH...another thing to be better at :)

  3. Lisa, I started choosing one word a couple years ago rather than making a list of resolutions. I chose a word each year that encompasses a lot of the goals/projects and such I have in mind. 2011 it was Simplify, 2012 was Quality (over quantity) and this year it is Intentional, to be more thoughtful of my day to day life and surroundings. I feel like I accomplish more this way, big or small! And, am not disappointed when the New Year rolls around.

  4. Brilliant! If I had to choose a word for this year, it would be contentment. Not pushing myself to do 15 rooms and move from one room to the next without really appreciating what I've accomplished. I just want to be content.
